  • An image shared on Facebook claims President-elect Joe Biden said on Parler that he would enact the Subjugation Reparations Act and change the name of the Washington Monument to BLM Tower. Verdict: False There is no record of Biden posting the statement on Parler. The pictured Parler account is fake, according to a Biden campaign spokesperson. Fact Check: The image appears to show a lengthy message that Biden allegedly posted on the social media platform Parler. In the post, Biden purportedly vowed that he has committed to healing our nation and mentioned two measures exemplifying his efforts. The ‘Subjugation Reparations Act’ will be enacted to include both Federal and State taxes will be abated, at Zero Percent, for the next 89 years for all black families in America, the message reads , in part. I will also be signing an executive order renaming the Washington Monument to the BLM Tower. (RELATED: Has Joe Biden Proposed An Annual 3% Federal Tax On Homes?) There is, however, no evidence Biden actually posted the statement on Parler. The account, which bears the handle @DemocraticParty , does not have any sort of verification badge and was created 12 days ago. Biden also does not appear to have made the statement in the Parler post during speeches or on Twitter , further adding to the post’s dubiousness. Biden has pledged to address systemic racism, saying in his Nov. 7 speech after being projected the winner of the election that he hopes to achieve racial justice and root out systemic racism in this country, according to a transcript . His campaign website describes The Biden Plan for Black America and The Biden Plan to Build Back Better by Advancing Racial Equity Across the American Economy . Neither plan mentions doing away with taxes on black families for over 80 years or renaming the Washington Monument. A spokesperson for the Biden campaign confirmed the account is fake and that Biden did not make the statement on Parler or elsewhere.
