Coca-Cola company is currently recruiting at least 200 works across Nairobi county, reads a job ad posted on Facebook in Kenya in early May 2022. The post promises available opportunities for various positions, including cleaners, receptionists, security guards, machine operators and drivers. The ad also stipulates Must be 18yrs and above .* Must be well Conversant in English and Kiswahili and promises that All casual wokers will be paid the amount of cash 700_1000per day across Nairobi. It has been posted multiple times on the page, here , here, here , and here . The same ad has also been reposted in several public groups to tens of thousands of Facebook users, here , here , here and here . The page asks those interested to send their details via WhatsApp to a cellphone number. But is Coca-Cola really hiring in Nairobi, Kenya? We checked. Clues of a scam The message’s poor spelling and grammar is the first sign that it’s a scam . The first sentence asks for 200 works instead of workers. The post also gives job applicants a phone number to send a message to if they are interested in the job vacancies. There’s no link in the ad to the official Coca-Cola Kenya office contacts, and the phone number doesn’t match any listed by Coca-Cola . Coca-Cola Kenya told Africa Check that the advert was a scam. The company said all job opportunities were advertised on the careers page of its website and applications were made online – not through WhatsApp. The company also said legitimate job openings were only posted by the company on their official website and verified social media platforms. We also confirmed that Coca-Cola Kenya’s verified Facebook page is not advertising any of the jobs in the scam message.
