  • A day before the Jan. 6 select committee voted unanimously to subpoena former President Donald Trump, a Facebook post with a dramatic claim started to spread online. Trump woken up from his bed by police, the Oct. 12 post said. It was flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook.) The post features a video that includes a clip of the MSNBC show, All In with Chris Hayes. In the clip, Hayes interviews Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., a member of the Jan. 6 House select committee, about a Washington Post story reporting that the Justice Department was investigating Trump’s actions in connection with the attack on the U.S. Capitol. RELATED VIDEO But that story was published on July 26, and the MSNBC segment in the Facebook post aired the same day. There’s no mention anywhere in the video in the post of police rousing Trump from his bed. We looked elsewhere online for credible reports that this happened and found none. We rate this claim False.
