  • A document posted on a Facebook group page with more than 47,000 members claims Kenya’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has fired its coordinator for the Coast region. It’s headed PUBLIC NOTICE, dated 30 September 2021 and carries the party’s branding, logo and slogan. It is notified to the general public and party faithful that Mr. Mohamed Tenge is no longer the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Coast Region Coordinator, it reads . He is therefore not authorized to conduct any activities on behalf of UDA or transact on behalf of the party. It appears to be signed by Veronica Maina , the UDA’s secretary general. The notice appeared as wrangles deepened in the party’s office in the Coast region ahead of an October visit by Kenyan deputy president William Ruto , who is allied with the UDA. Is the notice real? Is Tenge no longer the party’s Coast region coordinator? We checked. ‘Please ignore’ In a tweet posted on 1 October, the UDA dismissed the notice as fake.
