On Father's Day in June 2021, a screenshot supposedly showing a message from former U.S. President Donald Trump was circulated on social media: The message reads: Some social media users were a little unsure if this was a genuine message from the former president. Trump, who was banned from several social media platforms in the wake of the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, has primarily relied on email statements to get his message out to his supporters. As many people don't have firsthand access to these emails, social media users have to rely on others to post screenshots. This, of course, has led to a few spoof statements. Others may have been unsure about this statement's authenticity because it isn't customary to levy insults in celebratory messages, especially those calling for unity. This statement, however, was truly issued by the former president. Interestingly, this is not the first time that Trump has sent a Happy Father's Day message that included an attack or an insult. In 2019, Trump tweeted: In 2019, Trump started the new year by wishing Happy New Year to everyone, including the haters and the fake news media! in an all-caps tweet: Perhaps most famously, Trump extended his best wishes to all the haters and losers in 2013 on the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. When Trump ran for president a few years later, this message was deleted from his timeline:
