  • A video shared on Facebook purports a rally held by former President Donald Trump was shut down after no one attended. Verdict: False The video’s caption is false. The former president did, call into a small September 2022 rally in support of Jan. 6 prisoners, but was not organized by Trump. Fact Check: Trump recently held a campaign rally in Minden, Nevada Oct. 8 to campaign for Republican candidates Adam Laxalt and Joe Lombardo, the Nevada Independent reported. The video shows online commentator Christo Aivalis claiming Trump is closer than ever to being indicted, while featuring a clip of MSNBC host Ali Velshi and lawyer Barbara McQuade discussing the classified documents found during the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago in August. The video then cuts back to Aivalis, who mentions the failed rally allegedly held by the former president. The claim is incorrect. The rally in question was organized in support of Jan. 6 prisoners and held at a Washington, D.C. jail, according to The Hill . The former president called into the small rally to express his support to Micki Witthoeft, whose daughter Ashli Babbitt was killed during the Capitol Hill riots that day, the outlet reported. Trump allegedly said the prisoners are being treated very, very unfairly during the call, according to the Washington Post . Only dozens of protesters turned out for the rally despite claims from organizers that it would be the biggest J6 to date, Newsweek reported.
