  • A Facebook user shared a poster which appears to advertise jobs at Kenya Power and Lighting Company . According to the poster , the power company has nearly 8,000 vacancies, including for crafts men & women, cashiers, apprentice engineers, customer care staff and secretaries. Those interested are told to send their applications to two email addresses. The user asked Can someone authenticate hii story kama in ukweli, which loosely means Can someone confirm if this job post is authentic? in Kiswahili. The job advert does not appear on the career section of the company’s website and it has not been posted on its official Facebook and Twitter pages either. ‘Fake job advert’ Kenya Power has said the poster is fake and cautioned job seekers against falling prey to the advert via Facebook and Twitter . It is the era of everything fake; fake relationships, fake body parts, fake news and in the same stride, fake job advertisements, it said . Job seekers were told to visit the company’s career section for genuine job ads. – Dancan Bwire (en)
