Peroxidase quenching and blocking steps were performed via incubation in 3% H2O2 for 10 minutes, avidin and biotin blocking (Vector Laboratories Ltd, Peterborough, United Kingdom) and finally 5% BSA diluted in 20% normal serum from the host species of the secondary antibody.
